ALAN CEMORE
Baritone

The Italian/American baritone Alan Cemore was born in Wisconsin, USA. He commenced his musical studies in Iowa, but also studied in Frankfurt and Indiana University, where he was the first recipient of the Cole Porter Memorial Fellowship.

Alan Cemore began his career as principal lyric baritone in Wiesbaden, where his roles included FigaroIL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA. He has subsequently been principal baritone in Basel, Graz and Bremen where his repertoire has included the title role DON GIOVANNI, Germont LA TRAVIATA, Renato UN BALLO IN MASCHERA, Luna IL TROVATORE, Stankar STIFFELIO, Iago OTELLO, Scarpia TOSCA, Lescaut MANON LESCAUT, Marcello LA BOHÈME, Sharpless MADAMA BUTTERFLY, Michonnet ADRIANA LECOUVREUR, Escamillo CARMEN, Conte Almaviva LE NOZZE DI FIGARO, Faninal DER ROSENKAVALIER, Falke DIE FLEDERMAUS, Speaker DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE, Fluth DIE LUSTIGE WEIBER VON WINDSOR, Heerrufer LOHENGRIN, Wolfram TANNHÄUSER and Alfio and Tonio in a double-bill of CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA/I PAGLIACCI. Engagements elsewhere include Tom in Henze’s THE ENGLISH CAT for Alte Oper Frankfurt, Rodrigo DON CARLO for Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck, Luna for DeutscheOper am Rhein-Düsseldorf, the title role DON GIOVANNI for Städische Bühnen Nürnberg, and Escamillo for Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe, Four Villains  LES CONTES D’HOFFMANN as well as his debut as Gerard in a new production of ANDREA CHENIER, both for the Saarländisches Staatstheater Saarbrücken, the title role of DON GIOVANNI for the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden, Germont in LA TRAVIATA for the Städtische Bühnen Mönchengladbach, Scarpia TOSCA for the Stadttheater Heidelberg, Rossini’s PETITE MESSE SOLENNELLE in Saarbrücken, Herr von Faninal in a new production of DER ROSENKAVALIER and the title role ELIJAH both for the Stadttheater Bremerhaven, Tchelio L’AMOUR DES TROIS ORANGES for Stadtstheater Darmstadt, Iago OTELLO, Glanert’s DER SPIEGEL DES GROSSEN KAISERS both the Städtische Bühnen Münster, Scarpia TOSCA at the Landestheater Flensburg, and Pizarro FIDELIO in Münster and Flensburg, GIANNI SCHICCHI, RIGOLETTO, Le Père LOUISE and DON GIOVANNI for the Landestheater Schleswig-Holstein and TRISTAN UND ISOLDE for Münster Theater. 

Foreign engagements include Wolfram at the Festival of Perth in Australia and appearances at the Edinburgh, Spoleto and Wexford Festivals. In addition he has sung at the Torino Settembre Musica and the International May Festival in Wiesbaden. He has made numerous television appearances throughout Europe, Asia and North America and his recordings include Keiser’s DIE GROSSMÜTIGE TOMRYIS for EMI, an operatic selection for Columbia Records and a Gershwin 100th Birthday Celebration with the Hessen Radio Symphony Orchestra.
